Celebrate Peruvian July 28th & Other South American Independence Days with Split Bean Coffee

The July-August is normally when most South American Countries celebrate their independence from Spain. Celebrate with one of Split Bean Coffee's delicious Alfajores.

Van Nuys, California July 18, 2007 -- Split Bean Coffee® is a Southern California based Micro-Roaster of Single Origin, Strictly High Grown (SHG), Nicaraguan Coffees; and confectioner of Artisan Quality Gourmet Sweets, featuring our world famous Alfajores La Misión®, and Our Dulces del Rocío Brand which includes a collection of Fudge, Marshmallows, Chocolates and Brittles.

Founded in 2003 Split Bean Coffee is a family owned business dedicated to the promotion and appreciation of Old Fashioned Coffees and Treats. Using family treasured recipes of both South America and The American South, The Split Bean Coffee family has combined the time honored traditions of people's love for good quality coffee and the old-fashioned sweets traditions our grand-parents learned to love.

Split Bean Coffee offers a fine selection of Micro-roasted coffees, of which SHG Nicaraguan Coffees are the signature standard. Grown in the highlands of the Matagalpa region in a family member's fair trade co-op farm, these coffee beans is sun-dried and selected for import directly to us. Split Bean Coffee’s commitment to each customer is to provide them with freshest roasted coffee every time. Each bag of coffee is roast to order to assure the customer always receives the freshest roast possible.

Split Bean Coffee also carries a limited collection of Gourmet Artisan Sweets, of which The Alfajores La Misión® are their best sellers. Featured in over ten national publications including The Los Angeles Times, San Jose Mercury News, Tu Ciudad Magazine, Specialty Food Magazine & Indulge Magazine, The Ventura County Star, The Washington Times, and The Miami Herald, these South American Shortbread cookies are handmade in small batches just like Aunt Tita's used to make them. Based on a close guarded recipe dating back to the 1800's, which has been passed on to selected family members, these heavenly treats will melt in your mouth. Available in over 7 creative varieties including the Traditional Dulce de Leche, Guava, Quince, and the Alfajor Americano®, a peanut butter filled-chocolate covered creation.

In addition to Alfajores, Split Bean Coffee also makes Artisan Marshmallows, Toffee, Truffles and Fudge. These products are available under our Dulces del Rocío® label, and feature such unique seasonal flavors as Rose Petal Flavored Marshmallows, Chili laced Chocolate Truffles, Saffron Marshmallows, Watermelon Marshmallows, Creamy Velvet Fudge, Peanut Brittle, and Almond Toffee.

For those whose health does not permit them to indulge in the pleasures of coffee, Split Bean Coffee offers Yerba Mate, a South American tea, made from the leaves of the Mate Tree, full of anti-oxidants. An easy to prepare energy elixir that will restore your body's balance without the side affects associated with caffeine. Mate is an ideal year-round beverage that can be enjoyed hot or cold.

Split Bean Coffee's products are available directly through their website, www.SplitBeanCoffee.com, and through a few selected coffee & tea houses. By avoiding a distribution platform, Split Bean Coffee have been able to keep the cost of our goods down, while assuring their customers always receive the freshest products possible. Since everything is made fresh to order and preservative-free, the normal turn around time is 2-3 business days, plus two days for shipping transit. Split Bean Coffee uses USPS Priority Mail, or if the customer requests, overnight shipment is available world-wide.

The Split Bean Coffee Family not only believes and subscribes to fair-trade practices, but believes in community and the fostering of small businesses. We are proud contributors to Paws LA, The Indian Film Festival, The Make a Wish Foundation LA, The Latin American Lions Club of LA, & The UC Davis Latino Graduation Committee, The Mariano Dubon Pre-Escolar in Leon, Nicaragua to name a few.

Split Bean Coffee was founded on the principles passed on by member of our Grand-Parents generation and those who came before them. Simple, honest, hard working individuals, for whom preparing a sweet treat or an elaborate meal was not a chore but an act of love and creativity; people who cared not what china your food was served on, but the quality of ingredients used to make the food. And most of all, people who never took a shortcut to putting a smile on our face. It is in honor of these values , that Split Bean Coffee makes everything fresh, saluting “The Slow Food Movement”, and hope our products somehow bring the innocent sweet child-like smile from yesterdays.

Celebrate South American Independence Days with a sweet treat from Split Bean Coffee!

Que viva la Libertad!
